It has been a while!!!

Ok so much to report! I went back to Canine Companions for Independence and finished my training successfully. They then tried to match me up with a client but nothing clicked. They even tried for longer than usual since I am pretty sweet but still no success annnnnnnnd I may have liked food and looking for food a little too much. ;)

So it was back to my puppy raiser and the Pediatric Emergency Department!! I have been around so much that they made a badge for me, I completed therapy dog training and after a ton of visits I am a “Distinguished” AKC therapy dog.

I am now working with the Physicians and Nurses at the California Pacific Medical Center Van Ness Campus Pediatric Emergency Department. It has been going great and I also visit the patients on the Pediatric Ward and Pediatric ICU. Many times I am spotted in the hospital and also stop by adult patient rooms if family members ask.

I just turned 1!

I just turned one year old today. It is definitely taking a Village to get this far. I have so many aunts and uncles that it is amazing.  I get to spend days and weeks at a time at the farm down in Los Alto's with Bailey and Andrew. Scott, Taylor, Jamison, George and many other bipeds do a great job of entertaining me when I need it and all the nurses at the hospital are my family away from home.  I go back in February 2017 so lets make this time count.

Parker Posey!!!

What a wonderful person. My human has been so negligent with updates but tonight reminded him of my quest for Parker and Buster. She was in town for a film and was honestly so sweet even when I licked all her makeup off.

SPEAK!!

Well I have been encouraged use my voice and I am doing that quite well.  I am trying to get lots of treats and using my voice even when I am not being asked to. Getting no reaction out of the human on this but I may continue to try.  I'm proud to say my 6:15 AM wake up ethos is still in full effect.  The smaller humans in the emergency room seem to really like my presence when I can stop by occasionally.  The noises in the ER are not a problem and ambulance sirens are not a big deal at all.

Halloween

Well the human feels this is a great excuse to change my cape to something a little more festive. Went down to the South Bay CCI group and was impressed by the people and the dogs. Somehow I scored "Cutest Puppy". I think my humans turkey chili had something to do with that but I can not be sure. I am learning down pretty well and speak is just around the corner.  Human is still not thrilled with my 6:15 on the nose wake up clock but considering I have acquiesced to "the man" and in house accidents are down 99% he can suck it up.

Post call

Well I am learning that my human has the oddest sleep schedule ever. It seems that to keep my kibble coming he has to work overnight sometimes, which means that I sleep in the crate in the office and see him come in and out and watch how he gets a few hours of sleep here and there if he's lucky. Of course my energy level is off the charts in the morning so this is going to take a little discussion.

Cuddle time

One of the few things that people do not know how to do with puppies is make sure that you cuddle us for at least 15 to 20 minutes a day while grabbing her paws and playing with our teeth. It makes us comfortable getting toothbrushed and nail trimmed later. When you cuddle us stomach up you have to make sure that our tails are down and that we do not fight and when you let us go we have to be completely relaxed for at least five minutes before you say release that way it is you making the decision  to let us go not us

Beach Day

Discovered that I am NOT that much into water yet. Waves... good to look at.... getting in them is another matter. Maybe when I am in Miami next month with something called the Gulf Stream.

Lands End Labyrinth

Went to the Labyrinth at Lands End. Superb hike. Human finally realized that my waling really slowly was not because I was tired since the minute he took off my vest I was racing down the path. I guess the days of him carrying me are over.  I am getting used to the leash but definitely need more time with it. I discovered sand for the first time and ate most of it at first.

At work

My human is a pediatric ER physician so I get to hang out in the ER and get used to the noises, beeps, children crying, smell of bad coffee and take out.  I have sit down about 80 percent and am much better on leash although I do like to hold it in my mouth too much. The human unit feels that my using the luscious short grass the populates his house for my business is not appropriate. I say power to the pup and am holding my ground while not necessarily holding anything else in.
